This summer, I had the pleasure of being invited to Hale Summer Club for a day to experience it for myself, and it flooded me with all the best memories of my childhood.

As I wrote on Instagram that day, it’s a magical land. Children there don’t ask for screens because they are too busy catching fish, digging in the sand, tie-dying t-shirts, taking boating and archery lessons, and having good ol’ fashioned fun.  The adults relax because their kids are safe.  I even saw a few READING BOOKS—big person books, not Eric Carles or Sandra Boyntons! Others were in an outdoor yoga class or doing aqua aerobics.

My visit was a...

If you like World’s End in Hingham, MA (and who doesn’t?), make sure you check out this sweet little 36 acre park that you don’t want to miss: Webb Memorial State Park in Weymouth, MA.  It's named after Weymouth police officer and WWII veteran William Webb and operated by DCR.

It’s much smaller and, while well-kept, certainly not as manicured as World’s End.  But it is a beautiful, family friendly park along the water with similar views of Boston.  It has plenty of parking, and it’s free to enjoy.  There is a pavilion with grills for a picnic, and there are restrooms and a water fountain.  Score.

With an easy 1...

My bucket list of Boston area wikes had Noanet Woodlands on it for quite some time.  If you haven’t been there yet, it should be on your short list, too!

When we finally made it to Noanet Woodlands, a 600 acre property of The Trustees in Dover, Massachusetts, it just so happened to be perfect weather.  The sky was clear and sunny, the air was a crisp 45 degrees Fahrenheit, and there was a beautiful layer of snow on the ground.  It was the first day of daylight savings time, so we put on our hats and boots and made use of our extra hour of sun to hit the trails.

We started at Caryl Park, where there was a parking lot (and...

I usually agree with Miley Cyrus on one thing (and one thing only): “It’s the climb.”  But sometimes… it’s really the view.  The view from the top of Great Blue Hill on a clear day is absolutely spectacular.  The entire hike is enjoyable; the climb is pretty fantastic… but the view?  It’s the view. (Use your best Miley voice to sing that last sentence!)

The hike to the top of Great Blue Hill in the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, MA can be summited from a few points.  We chose to start at Trailside Museum, a popular starting point.  Up and back, it’s about a mile hike with 430 feet of elevation gain.  It’s s...

If you’re looking for a peaceful and delightful slice of the city of Boston, look no further than the Rose Kennedy Greenway!  This 1.5 mile string of parks along Atlantic Avenue near the waterfront in Boston is the perfect way to spend a beautiful Sunday, and that’s exactly what we did-- we went on an urban wike!

The Greenway essentially starts (or ends, depending how you look at it) at South Station.  If you’re commuting into the city to spend the day on the Greenway, South Station is a great entry point.  Similarly, the Greenway essentially ends (or begins) at North Station, another nice entry point.  If you’re c...
