When I picture my fondest summer memories throughout my life, all of them are outdoors.  Every single one.

Summer weekdays spent biking back roads to the pool, swim practice in the exhilaratingly frigid water, playing cards and eating penny candy on picnic tables, and lots of capture the flag.  Collecting shells and splashing around with my siblings and cousins at the beach.  Playing "house" outside with all of the neighborhood kids and then sipping lemonade under the sun.  Spending time at a lake building sandcastles on “secret” beaches, borrowing rowboats, and eating wild blueberries.  That wild time my mom took us sailing...

We just returned from our summer trip, and while we jet-setted across the world before our daughter was born, this trip was both adventurous and close to home-- exactly what we needed!  Tons of awesome recommendations from friends made Acadia National Park a memorable experience for us.  Here I share with you the culmination of all my research and experience, so you, too, can have an epic visit to Acadia National Park.

After our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado exceeded our wildest expectations, I began dreaming up all of the national parks we could visit.  Drive just under 5 hours from Boston, and...

Congratulations to Lucy, age 3, an honorable mention winner of the 2018 Wike Baby "I Love the Outdoors" Children's Writing Contest!  She writes about hiking Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park through a tunnel to a waterfall.

"I like seeing waterfalls. Waterfalls go into rivers. Little waterfalls have bumps. I like seeing bumps and seeing waterfalls and the shadow is right there. There is the people and the bridge and they are going into the tunnel. The owl is happy because owls are happy. There is the waterfall and the line so people don't go in there. Waterfalls make me feel good. The chipmunks are happy and crazy....

Congratulations to Nico, age 5, who is a winner of the 2018 Wike Baby "I Love the Outdoors" Children's Writing Contest!  He writes about the "Panther Caves" of Middlesex Fells Reservation, north of Boston.

My favorite place outside is the black panther cave. I like it because a big cat was living in it a long time ago. I don't want to tell what you'd see when you go there cause it'd spoil the surprise. You need to go see it.

Favorite Special Places Outdoors

I went on picnic to Borderland State Park, we took a walk in the woods by the lake. Because my grandpa could not walk much he stayed back at the picnic table. We came back from the forest after a long walk, then we played skip ropes, frisbee, we also played with my squishy ball. I had a bubble stick. I ran around in the field making lots of bubbles. Some bubbles floated far far away, some bubbles stayed on the grass. Do you know what? I had a dragonfly sitting on...

How I Built a Treehouse

Started in April 2018

INSPIRING MY PARENTS TO BUILD THE TREEHOUSE
